- Prof. J.M. STILLMAN is conducting a
musical convention at Scio.
- Ham NORRIS of Belmont "Post"
has recently purchased a part interest in that office.
- Wm. S. BURDICK of Roulette, PA has been
visiting friends in town for the last few days.
- A little four year old daughter of S.B. KNIGHT
of Belmont, fell into a pail of hot water and scalded herself to death
recently.
- Alfred Centre was represented at the HANLAN
- HOSMER boat race at Cazenovia Lake, last week in the person of A.H.
LANGWORTHY. He reports a fine time. The race was very easily won by HANLAN.
- Rev. Dr. S. Irenaeus PRIME long
connected with the "New York Observer" died on Saturday, July
18th.
- Prof. J.L. BURRITT of the Wellsville
Union School and Academy, was recently honored with the degree of Master of
Arts by the Illinois Wesleyan University.
- Rev. L.E. LIVERMORE preached at
Wellsville last Sabbath.
- Walter BLISS left Tuesday morning on
another trip for E.S. BLISS.
- Mr. T. CARMODY, of Cuba graced our
village by his presence on Sunday last.
- Will SAUNDERS is spending a few weeks
with his sister, Mrs. W.S. BONHAM and other friends at Shilo, N.J.
- The hay crop of this year is very light,
falling far short of what it was last year. Hay will consequently bring a
good price.
- Robert GORTON of Plainfield, N.J.
arrived in town Sunday. His wife has been with us for some time, stopping at
her father's Dr. L.E. MAXSON.
- Revs. L.E. LIVERMORE and (?).A. PLATTS
were in Wellsville, Friday, on business in relation to the will of the late
John CRANDALL of Genesee.
- C.H. MEAD, Hornellsville, will please
accept our thanks for a season ticket to the Hornellsville Temperance Camp
Meeting.
- Bert SMALLEY has entered into an engagement
with E.S. BLISS to run his general merchandise wagon for the coming year. He
commenced his duties last Monday. Success to you Bert.
- Harry DUNHAM is reported a little
better.
- Dell CARR, of Hornellsville, was in
town Sunday.
- Baylics BASSETT and son, Shef were in
Casisteo the first of the week.
- The death of Mr. Edmund BROWN, which has been
expected for several days past, took place at about 7 o'clock Saturday
morning. Mr. BROWN was 71 years old, an old resident of Allegany county, and
has resided in Wellsville for the past fourteen years. He leaves a wife and
nine children. The funeral service will take place at the residence on the
Brooklyn side, at 11 o'clock Monday A.M. The service will be conducted by
