- Barnum's bill posters were in town Friday.
- Grand excursion to Niagara Falls today.
- Prof. DAVIS has returned from West Virginia.
- The county W.C.T.U. is now in session at Bolivar.
- The salary of the post master at Cuba has been reduced $100.
- Dr. W.W. CRANDALL of Andover, was seen on our streets Tuesday.
- Rev. LE. LIVERMORE left today on a trip to Buffalo and Clarence.
- The printers return their thanks to Mr. & Mrs. A.B. GREEN for a box of
wedding cake.
- Several out of town parties were in town Thursday in attendance at the
GREEN-SHERMAN wedding.
- Rev. W.C. TITSWORTH is to supply the desk at the Seventh Day Baptist
meeting in Wellsville next Sabbath.
- Miss Susie BURDICK has returned home after several weeks visit among
relatives and friends in Central New York.
- Miss Corinne STILLMAN is spending the vacation of the Boston Conservatory
of Music at her home in this village.
- E.S. BLISS is building a small tenement house in the rear of his residence
on Terrace Avenue. We understand that it is to be occupied by one of his
men.
- J.B. WHITFORD and family spent the Sabbath with Mrs. WHITFORD's father,
Rev. J. SUMMERBELL, at the Bridge. On their way home Sunday, they made a few
short calls in this place.
- There is to be a German Lutheran Church organized at Hornellsville.
- L.M. COTTRELL preached to the Seventh Day Baptists at Wellsville last
Sabbath.
- J.C. GREEN is having the interior of his residence decorated in a very
tasty manner.
- A shortage of $363.38 has been found in the account of the postmaster at
Avoca.
- Eli PLUMB of Belmont was found dead in his workshop early Wednesday
morning, having cut his throat with a drawing knife. He was employed as a
wagon maker by John DEAN and lived alone in the rear of the shop. He was 45
and very intemperate. A divorced wife since married and lives at Olean.
George DORT and Norman FULLER were the first to discover him and gave the
alarm. His mother lives in Fredonia, and he has a son who is a telegraph
operator.
- Mrs. Henry W. SAGE, wife of the founder of Sage College, Cornell
University, was killed at Ithaca, on Saturday, by being thrown from a buggy.
- Mr. WEBSTER, of Elmira, and Miss Mattie DAVIS of Hornellsville, were the pleasant
guests of Mr. & Mrs. Will H. Crandall over Saturday and Sunday.
- The Grand Union of the Equitable Aid, of the state of New York, at its
session in Lockport, recently elected D.H. NORTON of Friendship grand
treasurer.
- John SANTEE left for his home in Hornellsville, Tuesday evening, having
finished his course in the Business Department. Come and see us once in a
while John.
- Be sure to hear the readings of Miss Corinne STILLMAN of the New England
Conservatory of Music, Boston, Next Wednesday evening.
- Mrs. L.A. HULL and family, Mr. & Mrs. Bert ROGERS, Charlie MOORE, Jog
BRIGGS, Ed. SHERMAN Ed CHAPMAN and several others from this place were among
those who "excursed" to Niagara this morning.
