- Chas. FOX has tendered his resignation as
postmaster at Richburg.
- The County Fair is to be held on Oct. 6, 7 and
8, 1885.
- Daniel OVIATT and wife of Wellsville, were
guests of L.W. NILES last Sunday.
- An insect has made its appearance in Suffolk
county which is destroying potato bugs.
- J.R. LIVINGSTON and wife returned to their
home in East Saginaw, Mich. last Monday.
- D.E. BLISS of Little Genesee has been elected
president of the Allegany County Agricultural Society.
- A man named Thomas Sanders was run over and
killed by a Lehigh train near Cameron Mills Monday night.
- The depot at Hornellsville is soon to undergo
some changes. Among them the small ladies' room will be enlarged.
- Clark WITTER, the veteran mail carrier resumed
his duties again this morning. He having the contract for the coming four
years.
- C.C. CLARKE, M.B. COTTRELL and Irving SAUNDERS
started Monday night upon a trip to Buffalo with their bicycles.
- The fire which destroyed twenty-three houses
at Portville last week, is suppose to have been the work of an incendiary.
- Sol. CAMPBELL of Painted Post, a former clerk
in the store of A.E. & W.H. CRANDALL was in town the first of the week.
He came up on his bicycle.
- Mr. ENSWORTH has returned with his family to
their home in North Bingham, Pa.
- Mrs. C.B. STILLMAN is absent from town on a
visit at her father's in Westerly, R.I.
- Will COATES received a severe cut on his left
hand while working in the slaughterhouse one day last week.
- Clark STILLMAN al little son of Albert
STILLMAN, had one of his eyes quite badly burned while firing firecrackers.
- Rev. L.A. PLATTS has accepted the
pastorate of the Hornellsville Seventh Day Baptist Church for the coming
year.
- A large number of our people were present at
the ordination Miss Perie RANDOLPH at Hornellsville last Thursday.
- Fred A. VERY returned to his home in
Wellsville, last week from Boston, where he has just graduated from the
conservatory of music.
- Mrs. Ebson BURDICK has furnished another
candidate for the Five Corners Sabbath school. Mother and child are both
doing well.
- Cards are out announcing the marriage of Miss
Matie SHERMAN and Arthur B. GREEN, at the home of the bride on Thursday
evening, July 9th.
- Last Sabbath, Rev. L.A. PLATTS occupied the
pulpit of the Seventh Day Baptist Church at Wellsville. Next Sabbath it will
be supplied by Rev. E.P. SAUNDERS.
- B.L. GREEN and wife have gone to Battle Creek,
Mich. For the purpose of being treated at the Sanitarium by Dr. KELLOGG. We
hope that they will return soon very much improved in health.
- Noel SMITH takes the "biscuit" on
large strawberries. He sent us Tuesday, two baskets of the largest and
finest ones we ever saw in this section of the country. We did not learn of
their variety, but know they were very sweet and delicious. Many thanks.
