A.W. COON did up Alfred Centre one day last week.
Chester B. STILLMAN 's infant child died Tuesday morning.
Chas. L. SHAW and wife, are spending a few days at Friendship.
Daniel C. HOPKINS, of Almond , is conducting a department in the Steuben Signal.
Eugene CRANDALL, who has been laid up for a week with the quinsy, is at his post again.
Miss Lou LANGWORTHY, of Little Genesee, is stopping in town, visiting relatives and friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Giles H. GRIDLEY have just returned home from Elmira and Candor, where they have been visiting friends.
Mrs. H.M. BARKER, County Organizer, recently organized a W.C.T.U. in Bolivar, with Mrs. J.B. BRADLEY, president.
The collection at the church on the first Sabbath of the new year, under the new regims - the envelope system - amounted to over $50.
Mr. & Mrs. Ed STILLMAN of Little Genesee, visited Mrs. STILLMAN 's parents, Dea. A.C. BURDICK, and wife for a few days last week.
Chas. W. STEVENS left Monday noon for Geneva, as Representative of Alfred Centre Lodge, No. 77, E.O.M.A., to the Grand Lodge.
Jeremiah BEEBE has moved his family into the village occupying Charley EATON 's house. Charley goes up on his farm for this season.
A hat was passed at the close of the school meeting last Thursday afternoon, to assist Mr. David KING, who had cut his foot, amounting to $13.06. [Transcriber Note: See details of Mr. King's accident below.]
Married in Hartsville, Dec. 27, 1883, by Chas. R. AMIDON, Esq., Mr. M.M. EDWARDS, of Colorado, and Miss Eliza VAN BUSKIRK, of Hornellsville.
A young student from Scott, by the name of Mr. Chas. BROWN, was taken suddenly ill last Saturday afternoon, with inflammation of the bowels. He is well taken care of , and we hope will soon recover. His father and mother arrived Tuesday.
David KING, who was chopping in Wm. O. PLACE 's woods last Thursday, met with a serious accident. It seems that his axe came in contact, in some way, with a limb over head, bringing it down at such an angle as to cut his foot lengthwise. At last accounts he is doing well.
On Wednesday morning of this week, Wm. BARBER, the drayman from time immemorial for Alfred and vicinity, came into town with a load that would equal Wellsville's tan - bark loads. It being the staple of life added to its importance. The load consisted of about two and one-half tons of flour for A.E. & W.H. CRANDALL.
